We're always looking for ways to reduce waste on board, so we're trialing an edible biscotti coffee cup from twiice 🍪 Who's eating their cup once they've finished what's inside? ☕️ #AirNZSusty pic.twitter.com/SFgL16dDLCAIR NEW ZEALAND has begun trialling a new innovation in its battle against waste – an edible coffee cup.
Nike Chave, of the airline, said while the company – which serves more than eight million cups of coffee a year – has been using compostable, plant-based cups for some time, it was aiming to “remove these totally from landfills”. “The cups have been a big hit with the customers who have used these and we’ve also been using the cups as dessert bowls.”
PSA: Do not drink anything on airplanes that has gone through the piping system on the plane. They rarely clean the pipes. Airlines regularly fail health and safety inspections on this . This includes hot drinks, as often the water has not been heated enough.
