Neven Maguire feels privileged after turning 50: 'I've a great family life'

My parents. They taught me about respecting others and being good to people. They instilled in me to enjoy what I do and to be happy in life. They also had a lot of love for each other.Making shortbread, flapjacks and apple tart. I remember doing a lot of baking with my mother from the age of eight or nine. That’s where I got my love of food.

The weather ! I’ve a really good attitude and it takes a lot to get me down because I’m a very positive person. I enjoy the variety of my life. As a chef, you never stop learning. I’m very humbled by it all. I struggle to think of what could get me down other than losing my parents .I love Forrest Gump, it’s a wonderful feel-good movie. Tom Hanks plays that role in a genius way. I’ve seen it loads of times. Song wise, I love Tina Turner’s Simply The Best.
