Minister Helen McEntee said there is 'still a huge amount of work to do'

Minister for European Affairs Helen McEntee says negotiating a trade deal with the UK post-Brexit "essentially in 10 months" will be difficult and challenging.

"However, the idea that we can negotiate a trade deal, one that is comprehensive, one that provides very little change for our citizens, not just in the UK and Ireland, but the EU as well, within about a 12-month space, it's very difficult. "And what we do need to make sure, that in all of the negotiations Ireland's priorities are heard, that the other 26 member states' priorities are heard and that there is a level playing field, that we have a balance of rights and obligations throughout all of this."

"Of course, if we have a free trade agreement, if we have one that is so close and that we do not need checks, then that obviously changes things.

She’ll be negotiating phuck all , she’ll be told to implement what ever Merkel and Macroon tell her , catch yourself on

We're insignificant, Britain and Europe will do what's prosperous and right for them, we'll get the scraps and the politicians will sell it to us as there Golden fleece.

Talk about having a notion of yourself. This will be negotiated by Europe, not Ireland.

Average EU trade deal takes 8 years... the U.K. has less than 11 months

Can the State afford to roll back on the ‘pensions time bomb’?Promises and auction politics will not solve the challenge of funding vast future pension costs Why not start with ending Foreign Aid. Thats €800 million a year with plans for it to reach €2 Billion €2,000,000,000 by 2030. It can't afford not to! It's not just about the economy stoop-id/stew-pit. It's about social cohesion too, ya know. Incoming Govt can introduce variable rate pensions relative to available funds per yr. Up one year/down next, within safety net of pendulation. No it can’t & the future will be forewarned but it will need to provide an intern solution that is not the dole for those impacted now. Obviously it is unsustainable to retire at 65 & live to 90 & expect the state pension for all that time but right now sort the issue
