The Brentford defender will face Belgium at Aviva Stadium on Saturday

Nathan Collins insists he is ready to embrace Ireland’s win-at-all-costs mentality under interim boss John O’Shea.

O’Shea claims his style of football will be a ‘mix of everything’. Nailing down anything more specific is difficult when you’ve only a week to work with players. But O’Shea’s will-to-win approach also rings true with the Brentford defender who is primed for a start against a Belgium side missing Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.

Collins continued: “Every game is about winning, no matter what it is. As much as it's an experience for the lads and good for them to be in the group, we need to win games. “I’d probably prefer to play against him but it doesn’t change much for us, it doesn’t change our tactics, it doesn’t change what we’re going to do,” said Collins.

Everything the centre-back touched seemed to turn to gold as he quickly established himself as a regular in green and a tour de force. “I’m not focusing on that. I just want to play football, I want to be consistent with it and keep getting better.”
