A passing motorist performed a daring rescue to save three trapped occupants from a car after it had overturned and caught fire in the middle of a busy highway in southwest China |

Security camera footage captured the incident last Friday on the Chongqing section of the G85 highway. The footage shows the van suddenly spiraling out of control and overturning and spinning as it hit a barrier.Luo Yi, a passing motorist rushed to the rescue and kicked open a glass panel to help the occupants escape the blazing vehicle. He decisively kicked the car's windshield and got three trapped people out in under a minute.

The highway traffic law enforcement department immediately dispatched a rescue team to the site and extinguished the vehicle. "Because the people in the car had their seat belts fastened, they were not injured upon impact and this helped in their quick rescue as they also helped themselves," said one emergency response official.

Traffic police also said the accident was caused by a broken transmission shaft as the vehicle was running, which made the driver lose control.
