If passed, the motion has the potential to remove Bailey as a party candidate in the next general election. Bailey took to the airwaves to speak about the case on RTÉ’s Sean O’Rourke programme in May, in what her own party colleagues have described as a “car-crash interview”.

simoncoveney She tried fraud and was caught. If this was Joe from a working class area he'd be strung up in front of the courts yet she gets a slap on the wrist and continues as normal. Fair? Nah. Corrupt? Yep.

Exactly! She got caught plain and simple! But we must NOT forget Alan Farrell either - he was just inconvenienced - no less and a lot more!

A disgrace. I actually thought Simon Coveney was one politician who had some level of honesty. Will NEVER EVER vote FG again. LeoVaradkar simoncoveney you should be embarrassed having MariaBaileyFG dodgy insurance claims/suspect expenses in your party. Disgrace...

Unless her supporters are of the Lowry ilk her days are doomed

So would anybody caught making a false insurance claim. Politics is mostly perception to the voter,

Getting caught is her only regret corrupt

Wouldn't we all love to rewind the clock about certain things Simon however in life we live with our choices good or bad. Does Simon condone the exaggeration of injuries suffered by Bailey? That is the bottom line!

So Maria, I tripped over a broken path and broke several ribs. I was 69. Guess what, it was an accident.... I am an adult with good sight it is my duty to take care of myself....no one else’s fault...

I guess people are out for blood given the media hype, both mainstream and social that drove the frenzy. Very sad and very true.A serious lack of empathy from almost everyone concerned in this sorry saga except Varadkar. They tried then to lever him for not taking a political head

simoncoveney maybe you should wind your neck in a bit

This will be remembered Simon when you come knocking on our doors in Cork

NeilRedFM

Only sorry she got found out.

Maria bailey might have paid a high price for what she did but what about all the innocent people having to pay higher insurance because of people like her. My heart bleeds

No doubt ..soon the backdoor will be left open !!

How come we haven’t heard this from her?

She doubled-down every chance she got, this is really disappointing from Coveney, tone bloody deaf

Anyone who gets caught with their hand in the cookie jar would like to turn the clock back ..ask any bank robber if once caught, would they like to turn the clock back and their answer I'm sure is yes.

She a public figure and must accept the consequences- end .

No doubt many a criminal said the same Simon Coveney but you can’t rewind Maria Bailey’s crime and the arrogance she displayed after the crime. “INSURANCE FRAUD IS NOT A VICTIMLESS CRIME” MariaBailey

The claims culture is a blight on our society and elected reps must lead the charge to end this gravy train. She chose to get on and like so many cases recently fought in the courts she was found out. Has to be Zero tolerance

And I dare say that plenty of people in prison would like to wind the clock back to before they were caught, this does not make them any less guilty, simoncoveney you are either against fraud or in favour of it, you can't just swing from one side to the other MariaBailey

Rewind the clock Simon because she was caught red handed Lots of people behind bars who would also love to rewind the clock

We all make mistakes but in the real world we don’t get second chances

As would some other criminals, but they can’t. So they must face the consequences

Yea rewind the clock so as not to get found out

simoncoveney Mistake: An error or fault resulting from defective judgement, deficient knowledge or carelessness. The initial ‘fall’ was a mistake but the resultant litigation to extract money was fraudulent-period.

While some on social welfare were labelled as ' cheats ' Maria Bailey was ploughing ahead with a fraudulent insurance ' cheat ' of her own. One rule etc etc..............

Ah Simon, just because you got a bit of praise this morning doesn't mean your infallible.

What ever simon yee r ALL the same yee chance n heartbeat

Ahhhhhh

So would half the inmates in Mountjoy

FG culture at it's best. Defending the indefensible. Just sorry she got caught.

I'm sure we'd all like to rewind the clock on some of the choices we've made..you make your bed etc.

Swings and roundabouts

I'm afraid she can't simoncoveney but tell her good luck from me around swings

Bailey suported Coveneys Leadership challenge and he is reciprocating and principles are thrown out the door - at same time people are campaigning for a new Hate Law & ignoring the moral vaccum at the core of Irish politics. It is the people who are paying the price - not Bailey

The fraudster who got caught twice that I know, would like to rewind.

She's going to lose her seat in the next election and rightly so. It is time to move on from this whole swingate episode

Sadly Coveney has been out defending as has leo. In essence she has dirt on others and won’t be made an example of. The cronyism is a joke

No confidence to use a swing set?

Good

Least we not forget that other guy AlanFarrell too?

Why vote of no confidence LeoVaradkar should have dismissed her from the party!

If support is split it could just come down to a few swing voters

Dodgy claims, over exaggerating expenses - should be fired full stop...
