Earlier this year, the Danish family owned company announced plans for its first Irish store on Dublin’s Grafton Street.
The planning report stated that"the size, materials and location of the 'lego’ signage is appropriate on the fascia", however,"there are serious reservations" about the proposed mock lego brick cladding to the entrance. The planner's report stated that it is the Council’s view"that these illuminated new fascia panels add unnecessary clutter along the streetscape, would be visually obtrusive and set an undesirable precedent for this type of signage within the Grafton Street Architectural Conservation Area and the Scheme of Special Planning Control for Grafton Street".
Shut up Dublin City Council, leave Lego alone
Just tell them to its a phone or hair extension shop and you will be good to go 😂
But McDonald’s is fine 😂
That's gonna cause a block for them. Let's go
Perhaps the design included a ‘car’ ? And you know who doesn’t like ‘cars’ ?
But vodafone circle k can put garish crass logos anywhere
That’s exactly why we have a housing crisis.
Just make it look classy LEGO_Group and dccBETA will approve 😏
Can't have anything in the place
The Suits are out of touch
DCC not fit for purpose.
DCC need to go back and have a look ar some of the kippy shop fronts they currently allow. Every phone shop, fast food place, tacky gift shop, the list goes on.
And this after 000’s of planning decisions that have literally desecrated our built environment, finally DubCityCouncil get to decide on taste, total BS again from an administration devoid of any inspiration other than how to think inside the box
Since when did DubCityCouncil care about 'architecture and streetscape', the city is a toilet.
The city centre is dead on its feet. They should be encouraging retailers, not putting them off. Grafton St is a kip and getting kippier. Literally anything would look better than what’s there already.
DCC protect the current banal 90's high street facade, forsaking something that is dynamic, engaging & would bring colour to that dead corner. McDonalds & Vodafone plastic signage fine but Lego's iconic, curiosity invoking bricks & images, not so.
