MMA legend Randy Couture has explained what the PFL’s takeover of Bellator means for the organisation’s future ahead of the Bellator Champions Series in Belfast this Friday.
“So, smile, relax and go out there and do exactly what you trained to do is the advice I would give anybody and certainly the young Irish guy who’s under it and the Irish fans who are gonna be behind him on Friday night. It’s gonna be an amazing night for him.” “That fight, that crowd in Ohio that night, coming off a 13-month lay-off, 44 years old, most people thought I was nuts to get back in there with a guy that tall and fight the giant. The way that fight went, and that crowd that night was unbelievable. I’ll never forget that last ten-second countdown, that will ring in my head forever.”
“Obviously, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Professional Fighters League, which is a completely different format for the sport, wants to keep Bellator intact, maintain that roster of fighters which is so good, I mean look at that main event coming up Patricio Pitbull and Jeremy Kennedy, that’s gonna be a great fight in Belfast.
“I’m excited because it gives so much more opportunity to so much more athletes, not just on the global regular season that work with Bellator, they are going to transition into that format but now these regional promotions like PFL Europe which has just kicked off again in Europe and done very very well.
