The campaign for redress has been going on for years

Hundreds of homeowners whose properties are crumbling after being built with defective blocks will march on the Dail today to demand compensation.

The families are demanding full compensation as part of a redress scheme to help them repair or rebuild their houses. Kieran White told the Irish Mirror he fears part of his home in Inishowen will collapse and has had to move one of his children from a bedroom because of the danger posed by an unstable chimney.

“Our family’s life is on hold and we’re going to have to move out at some stage and we don’t know where to go. My house has pieces falling off it. I have four children and they are all football mad and I can’t let them play“I actually moved one child out of the bedroom where the chimney is built on to the outside because I’m scared of that blowing inUnder the current redress scheme, Mr White has been offered around €75,000 to repair the house but the real cost could be up to €40,000 more.
