James McClean was capped 103 times for his country before retiring at the end of last year.

James McClean has blasted the FAI ’s search for a new Ireland manager, saying it has left the Association “with egg on their faces”.

They had hoped to have a new man in by the Nations League draw in February, then by the late-March friendlies against Belgium and Switzerland. “I think it’s an absolute shambles,” said McClean. “It seems every week there is a new name being thrown in the mix and then that name is coming out and rejecting it and distancing himself from the job.
