In response to an inquiry from the Irish Mirror, Dublin City Council have issued the following statement: "For some time, a number of people, who were seeking accommodation via the International Protection Accommodation Service , have been camping on public footpaths and private landings outside the International Protection offices on Mount Street. This has led to conditions that were unhealthy, unsafe and unsanitary for those camping on the street and for the local community.
"IPAS has informed all relevant agencies that they now have more suitable accommodation available that will meet basic needs and provide a safer, cleaner environment. This morning waste management contractors were engaged to support the work of the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth in removing all materials that were cleared as waste by IPAS officials.
