Gardaí are working closely with police in the North on the investigation into the murder of Mary Ward in Belfast.
Mary was found dead at her home on Melrose Street on Tuesday, October 1st; however, she was last seen alive six days earlier.Gardaí are investigating the murder under the Criminal Law Act 1976, which extends the criminal law of the State to certain acts perpetrated in Northern Ireland.

Image: HeadlineX_ / Alamy Police eventually found her body on October 1st when they called to her home over a “totally unconnected” matter and saw a woman crouched over against the upstairs front window of the house.– the day she spoke to officers by phone.“We have referred this to the Ombudsman to ensure that there is that independent assessment in terms of, have we done everything we possibly could?” he said.
