Mary Byrne tells how X Factor have invited her back for 10 year reunion tour
The Dubliner recalled how comfort eating had spiralled into depression before the show changed her life.Mary, 60, told the Irish Mirror: “I can’t believe it’s 10 years, the show boss’ asked me if I wanted to go on it again as they’re working on an anniversary show with all the old contestants.
"I said I’d jump at the opportunity, Wagner wants to do it too, even if it was just to get to the final, not to win it but even to get there."When I was on the X Factor I had a lot of issues, weight, depression but now I feel better in myself, I’m living the life I had when I was younger, I lost it a bit when I had my daughter Debra.
“I went into myself a bit, comfort eating and the whole lot, to go on the X Factor and get that confidence back was incredible.Reminiscing about living with boyband One Direction, the mom-of-one said she became their honorary Mammy.“They had lovely manors, each morning I got a kiss off every one of them.She said: “They would say, “Good morning mammy Mary”, then again Harry would drop his trousers and moon me.
“He’s a cheeky little fecker, I’m so happy they made it, they weren’t getting as many votes as everyone else as younger kids didn’t have phones.“When I went back to the XFactor in 2012, Louis had invited us, Simon told me the year I was on it was the best year, that the ratings were through the roof.”
