Martin Bashir has reportedly claimed Princess Diana was the source of a series of bizarre false stories about the royals which had previously been attributed to him.
Earl Spencer even went public with a series of notes he's said to have made during a meeting in September 1995 which was attended by all three of them. Other false claims said to have been put forward at the meeting was that Diana's husband Prince Charles was in love with his kids' nanny and he had given his 13-year-old son Prince William a "bleeping Swatch" - suggesting it could contain a bugging device.
The publication reports Bashir's denials were given to the internal inquiry launched by the BBC over the claims he landed the interview using underhand tactics.The Mirror has contacted a representative for Martin Bashir for comment.
