Mr Hourihane, a native of Bantry, was a chef who had worked abroad for a number of years before returning to Cork.
It is understood he had been homeless for some time, having failed to get accommodation after a number of attempts. He was found close by unconscious and later died at Cork University Hospital. He had been severely beaten. A post-mortem examination was conducted at the hospital by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster.
Utterly appalling. Poor man. As an Irish person, I hate to admit, that there is savagery within some of our fellow countrymens hearts.
And yet somehow DirectProvisioning for migrants gets more media attention than the homeless. Time for parties and the media to focus on the real issues & provide homes for our citizens!
