Man City dealt blow in Lionel Messi transfer chase as PSG table eye-watering contract

Manchester City are in danger of falling behind in the race to sign Lionel Messi following reports Paris Saint-Germain have already made an eye-watering contract offer to the star.

There has been a huge amount of speculation as to where the 33-year-old will end up, with only a very limited number of clubs able to afford his mammoth wages. City are unable to compete with the finances behind the offer but remain quietly confident they may still be able to convince Messi to choose them due to the Guardiola connection.

It remains to be seen if or when City approach Messi, but it will certainly be intriguing to see how things play out.
