An off-duty police officer was injured during the hunt for a murder suspect after a young mum and her son were found stabbed to death.
The bodies of the 26-year-old mother and her nine-year-old son were discovered in a home in Louth at about 8.30pm on Monday, shortly after neighbours heard a baby screaming.Police said the mother and son suffered multiple stab wounds, and a knife was found at the scene. “We saw armed police and canine units arrive. We didn’t see any action, we just heard a baby screaming.Miss Ismay added: “Because kids are involved it’s not nice at all.Stuart Jenson, who described himself as a priest, said he spent time with the boy's "distraught" grandfather on Tuesday morning.
Chantelle Fenton, a local resident, handed a bouquet of flowers to a police officer to add to a memorial outside the home."It's just sad because it's happened on your own doorstep."A police cordon remained in place as forensic officers carried out an investigation into the deaths and mourners left flowers at a memorial outside the home.
“Sadly, a 26-year-old woman and her nine-year-old son, were confirmed to have died. Both victims suffered multiple stab wounds and a knife believed to have been used to inflict the injuries was recovered at the scene. Police later said an officer was injured by a man believed to be Boulton during the manhunt on Tuesday morning.
