A 23-year-old man has been arrested by Gardaí following an armed robbery that took place at a service station in Cork city.
Shortly after 5.30pm on Sunday , a man armed with what has been described as a machete entered a service station on Blackrock Road. He subsequently threatened staff before leaving on foot with a tray from a till, which contained a sum of cash and receipts.After the alarm was raised, Gardaí and armed detectives managed to arrest the suspect near the vicinity of the service station a short time later. A sum of cash was also recovered.
The man is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 for questioning at Bridewell Garda Station.
