“On Friday evening, at approximately 9pm, a number of protesters blocked an entrance to the premises. Gardaí requested the crowd to disperse to allow for staff to enter the property,” they said.“A man in his 20s was arrested for public order offences shortly after midnight. He has since been released. A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.”
It was confirmed that the crowd later dispersed from the scene shortly after 1.30am but have returned to the site this morning to resume the protest. The Department of the Defence had managed the former military installation since its closure in 2012 but handed over an agreed area to the Department of Integration to manage earlier this month, where the tented accommodation has been installed.
A statement issued on behalf of the Department of Integration condemned the ongoing protest at Columb Barracks.
Any videos ?
I hope the garda goes to jail
Lovely people, they aren't worried about refugees taking their non-existent jobs.
The videos clearly show that the roles were reversed. Gardai attacking peaceful protestors.
Well done mullingar.
Ireland 🇮🇪 An Illegal Algerian migrant who travelled across Europe to Ireland & claimed asylum is now staying in Mullingar The government, media & NGOs are gaslighting us. These are illegal undocumented migrants
Put body cams on all Garda ASAP.
I heard he head-butted a guard's closed fist, not once but twice.
This is why the people are protesting. They are not real 'Refugees' 🤦
Gardaí behaved disgracefully last night in Mullingar. The videos are on social media and Gardaí went out of their way to cause trouble. The protestors are against open borders and illegal immigration from undocumented male migrants
ResistTheGreatReset It is imperative that we resist the push towards digital currency and digital identification. It threatens our privacy and freedom. We must resist the influence of the WEF in our government, as seen in last week's mayhem in our country. ResistTheGreatReset
Refugees became Asylum Seekers thanks to rtenews
I seen the videos online the garda were way too rough with the protesters, one Garda in particular looked like he was out to kill someone, there are better ways to deal with this, the Garda were very violent, no need for it..protesters have a right to protest! gardainfo mullingar
Citizens arrest should be carried out an all Garda that were present last night
We need to name and shame the racists and xenophobes. Give their employers the information they need to make informed choices about who they're paying. If we appease them now this is only going to get worse.
From the footage I've seen it should be the other way around!
