Longford students fend off global competition to win first ever Junk Kouture World Final in Abu Dhabi

Solomon Eduard and Joshua Osabuehien from Cnoc Mhuire Granard were competing against 60 other finalists from London, Paris, Milan, New York and Abu Dhabi. CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FIRST EVER JUNK KOUTURE DUBLIN WINNERS, JOSHUA OSABUEHIEN AND SOLOMON EDUARD BACK TO THE FUTURE FROM Cnoc Mhuire Secondary School pic.twitter.com/7JJCAi9TFh

— Junk Kouture January 11, 2023 Their design called 'Back to the Future' is made from old shower mats, an old laundry basket, an aerial, car wipers and tubing from an old tractor tyre. Junk Kouture is a competition for secondary school students which requires them to create costumes entirely from waste materials. In a post on social media last night the school expressed its delight at the win.

"So....this just happened!!! Almost 8000km away in the Ethiad Arena, two young men from Longford representing our school have won the OVERALL World Design of the YEAR prize at the Junk Kouture World Final!!!!!!!!" the post read. And just like that, from Dublin winners to World Designer Of The Year. Just a fantastic achievement 👏 👏👏 https://t.co/uVl6UgdIKs
