Fishamble Street site previously designated for ‘mom and pop developer’ scheme

In July 2018, the council decided to use the site for its first “modular” apartment scheme for social housing. Tenders were sought for prefabricated “rapid delivery” apartments which would have a 60-year lifespan. However, the following February the council said it would not go ahead with the scheme due to spiraling construction costs. The council had set aside a budget of €1.

“Peter McVerry Trust is working with Dublin City Council to reuse the long-derelict site at Fishamble Street, Dublin 8, for a social housing scheme,” a spokesman for the trust said.

Should be used for low cost rental for key workers not for people who mote than likely will never work. They don't need to be housed in the city centre.

Luxury crack dens for junkies
