There have been 6,329 further positive PCR tests of Covid-19 confirmed in Ireland today by the National Public Health Emergency Team .The Department of Health says there are now 1,006 people in hospital, of which 1,006 are in ICU.
It comes as a leading immunology expert said that the Omicron wave of infections has likely already peaked. Professor Paul Moynagh from Maynooth University indicated that the worst of the surge in Omicron cases is probably behind us, although it is "difficult to be completely sure".
