The National Public Health Emergency Team will this evening announce the latest case and death figures for Ireland.
Numbers have been falling in recent days as lockdown continues to work although it may not be quite as low as Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan hoped. NPHET are meeting today and no press conference is scheduled although figures are expected around 5:30pm. If the Government is satisfied the rapid downward trajectory is sustained, there is growing confidence that it could give restaurants and food-serving pubs the nod to reopen next week.
