Tanaiste Leo Varadkar is getting in the Christmas spirit as he shared images of his newly assembled tree.
Varadkar posted a picture on Instagram after decorating his tree and posed with partner Matt Barrett in their Dublin home. The Fine Gael leader has really been getting in the festive spirit after sharing a post on December 1 as he tuned straight into Xmas Fm for all the seasonal tunes. Instagram Speaking on Friday, Varadkar said: "I’m determined that should not be the case next summer, that we should open safely if we can and not have the toughest restrictions in Europe in the summer of 2022.
“But we need to work on that basis I believe that we should make the most of summer 2022 more so than we did for the last two summers and I’ll be a strong advocate of that you can be sure of that and we need to get through this winter but also begin preparation for next winter and not assume it’ll be over by then.
“There will be lots more variants and lots more strains so we need to prepare for winter of next year as well and that includes building up the capacity of our health service, the test, trace and isolate system and it also does mean we need to encourage our scientists and pharmaceutical companies to develop new vaccines for new variants.”
