Kellie Harrington hopes that her first loss since claiming Olympic glory in Tokyo has lit "a fire under my arse" in her bid to make history in Paris.
She has now revealed that she will box on after Paris, though not in an Ireland vest. "That's it internationally, but I'd like to box in the National Stadium again," said Harrington. The Dubliner believes her preparation will also be fuelled by last month's defeat to Serb opponent Nadina Shadrina in the European Championships - her first loss since the one five months out from the Tokyo Games in 2021.
“I hope it has put a bit of a fire under my arse to get me going again. You don’t really learn anything from a win. I’ve probably seen the Olympic final twice and some clips other times. Other fights maybe once and maybe never - but losses you'll watch back.
