RTÉ presenter Kathryn Thomas has said she has not gone for an early morning or late evening run since the death of Ashling Murphy.

"The thing that was so shocking was that it was broad daylight," she said.

"We're constantly worried about getting out before it's dark, and it is more difficult because the evenings are shorter. "I would always suggest at this time of the year - or for me personally - I would always try and get my walk or my run in when it's bright, which is difficult. The Hard Shoulder's Kieran Cuddihy with Operation Transformation host Kathryn Thomas in Newstalk studios in Dublin. "Now, particularly in light of Ashling's case, put it this way: I've not gone early morning or late evening since then unless I'm with a group."Your local GAA club will have flood-lit pitches which is safe. "There's a lot of people who live rurally with roads with no footpaths, so you've got that to contend with as well."If you're not comfortable, and you feel like you're checking yourself all the time, you're not going to enjoy it.Main image: Kathryn Thomas is seen at the launch of a new series of Operation Transformation in December 2015.

Sweet Jesus....does she have any bloody shame

It's an absolute shambolic way the country has gone, any female feel they are not safe just to go for a run or walk.

Neither have I. I’m scared to go outside alone, on my own soil. What would our ancestors think, who sacrificed so much for us… only for a bunch of crooks to destroy it IrelandIsFull FineGael FiannaFail EastWall Ballymun EnoughIsEnough

Aww bless you. Making it about yourself.

Lazy

Terrible what happened to that poor lady last year, but this 'celebrity' just using the tragedy to stay relevant.

My heart bleeds...isn't she the same wan that travelled Ireland alone with her daughter in a campervan for cash..no fear there..

Two choices, adapt to the rising crime levels or ask garda for greater presence on streets and popular running spots.

Well, she is pushing on in years, so this is just the excuse she needed to sit on her ass.

Is that why she got botox?

‘We’re turning a big ship’: What has changed in Irish society since Ashling Murphy’s murder?'Government seems to be committed to making change, but it's not going as fast as some of us would like and as fast as is needed to protect more.' It’s called the Titanic! what has changed since RIP Aisling is that since she died we have imported thousands of unvetted unwelcome men from countries who have no respect for basic women rights and 40% of them have no ID, so what we need to protect women is to deport people back to their save country Majority of murders in Ireland in 2022 were committed by non nationals. I guess pointing this out makes me 'right wing'.
