"We are planning full checks on all EU imports - export declarations, security declarations, animal health checks and all supermarket goods to pass through Border Inspections Posts," this morning's Telegraph quoted a senior government source as saying.Under previous government plans for a no-deal Brexit last year, where Britain left the EU abruptly without any trade deal, only a small proportion of goods would have been checked.
British negotiators hope that threats of tougher checks if a deal is not agreed could make the EU more willing to agree to Britain's terms, the Telegraph said. The intensity of these checks will affect costs for British businesses that rely on just-in-time delivery, such as carmakers and supermarkets, and some fear even small border delays could make them uncompetitive, or reduce choice for shoppers."We are leaving the EU's customs union and single market. That means businesses will have to prepare for life outside of these," she said.
Al_toMyFriends 'Planning' me hoop. They don't have the manpower.
wrafter_colin Has RTE approached the UK government itself or is it reduced to passing on without filtration the ‘news’ from the Torygraph and charging €160 annually gor the ‘privilege’?

Posturing as usual
So despite the last 3.5 years of spewing relentless garbage on behalf of the UK Govt, the plan now for the usual suspects in the UK media is to indulge in more of the same tedious garbage for the next 11 months... 🙄

The negotiations begin and grandstanding
Well that didn’t take long, a few hours in order for The British Government to threaten the EU. It won’t work though. 😏
EU companies will just go elsewhere. They've got more flexibility than the UK. Yes it would be inconvenient but not as inconvenient for all the UK companies that loose the EU support.
Has he any choice in the matter, especially when his customs checks will be 'supervised' by EU operatives?
Nonsensical sabre rattling. Never believe anything in the telegraph. UK has no resource to carry out such checks and it would destroy our auto industry (what’s left of it) and the remains of our fishing industry. It is not going to happen and the EU negotiators know this.
Fortress UK. Back to 1796. Jasas
Now come on....the daily telegraph is not a paper to repeat a word fromnjnless it's a named source. Dont be sucked in. The british have no resources to carry out those checks and they won't be allowed to do them until January 2021 .....so ignore and post the Gaelic highlights
I wouldn’t worry about it, Johnston can’t even tie his laces, far less plan complicated infrastructure.
Music to the ears of every man woman and child from South Armagh . Everyone will be smelling of that new fragrance red diesel
Will this include goods from Northern Ireland as we are part of the EU Regulatory Zone. Also we will be doing Customs collections for the EU.
I would trust the Daily Telegraph too much.
