British PM Boris Johnson outlines new restrictions for England to combat the spread of Covid-19 |

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced tighter Covid-19 restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the disease.

Yesterday, the government's chief scientific and medical advisers painted a grim picture of how 200 or more people in the UK could die each day by mid-November if the current rate of infection is not halted. The fresh restrictions sparked anger from the hospitality sector, with Kate Nicholls, chief executive of UK Hospitality, describing them as "another crushing blow" for many businesses.

Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey earlier said the new rules would "feel like a step backwards", and urged the Government to fix the track and trace system and help the hospitality sector. He suggested that science would eventually "ride to our rescue", but "in this period of the next six months, I think we have to realise that we have to take this, collectively, very seriously".

Government concern over rise in Covid-19 cases in eight countiesThe Government is concerned at trends in the spread of Covid-19 in the counties of Louth, Waterford, Limerick, Kildare, Leitrim, Donegal, Offaly and Wicklow. They should be more concerned about the effects the lock-down's have had on people. Protect the old and leave the rest of us live our life's !!!!! Yet still no mention of the correlation in this recent rise nationally with schools reopening? The only change in sector reopening the past 3weeks! Offer Distance Learning for those with highly vulnerable family members who wish to avail of it. Plan instead of react. Winter surge The only worrying trend is the governments mishandling of a virus. Had they gone down the road of herd immunity like Sweden life would be back to normal.
