John Kierans: Madman Putin can’t be allowed to get his way

I am sure each and everyone of you are shocked and sickened by the pictures and videos you are seeing so far from Ukraine.

What makes this war so outrageous is the deliberate targeting of civilian areas by the Russian forces, in a blatant attempt to bully the local population into submission. It is happening on the hour, every hour. They know they are killing women, old people, and children, the most vulnerable who can’t escape, and they don’t give a damn. They have also been targeting hospitals and schools without batting an eyelid.We all know that madman Vladamir Putin wants to level the whole of Ukraine to the ground. He doesn’t care less what the fallout is for the Russian people - he is going for it big time.

At the moment the brave Ukranians are winning the war on the ground and all the might of the Russian army apart from bombing the civilian population has been unable to take control.
