“I won’t pretend to know the politics and what’s going on with legal stuff in the background. All I know is it seems odd that we’re not getting [any news],' Kavanagh said on the MMA Hour.

The Irishman has been absent from the UFC for almost three years since breaking his leg in defeat to Dustin Poirier in July 2021 but has been trying to get a fight confirmed for the better part of a year. He coached opposite Michael Chandler on The Ultimate Fighter reality series last year and was expected to fight the American but no bout ever materialised.

“I won’t pretend to know the politics and what’s going on with legal stuff in the background. All I know is it seems odd that we’re not getting ," Kavanagh said on the MMA Hour. “But yeah, it’s weird to me for someone to be the star he is and not get more opportunities Look, I’m going to meet him either this evening or certainly tomorrow for the movie, and trust me, that’s why I half-jokingly say to journalists: ‘You know as much as me.’

Speaking to TalkSPORT's new MMA podcast earlier this week, McGregor revealed that he was upset with how Dana White dismissed his callout of Nate Diaz for UFC 306 and gave an update on his contract status.“You know, there was cold water put on that in public off the bat and I wasn’t happy with that.“So, I hope I can get something in and get dialled in.“I hope we’ll get some clarity with a date and I can push towards it.
