John Cena announced the nominees for Best Costume while naked. The star hesitantly came on stage as part of a bit in reference to an actual streaker at the 1974 award show. Jimmy Kimmel, who was hosting the Oscars , recounted the Hollywood history moment before insinuating that someone was supposed to appear on the stage. The Academy Awards might have snubbed Barbie in most of the major categories, but the Mattel blockbuster has eight nominations, including Best Picture.

While director Greta Gerwig missed out on Best Director, Ryan Gosling managed to land a nomination for Best Supporting Actor, which infuriated fans as Margot Robbie failed to land any acting nods for her leading role as Stereotypical Barbie.
