Big news in Ireland’s crazy property market as the experts say prices are falling and while it’s not yet time to panic - it’s almost certainly time to get ready to panic.

As usual, if values do plunge again, there’ll be big winners and big losers. And the only thing we can be certain about is that the losers won’t include those already sitting pretty on a big pile of cash and houses. And it’s no longer a Dublin thing - in Cork, Limerick, Galway and elsewhere - hard working people are being pushed to the very limit just to keep a roof over their heads.

You’d need a team of headshrinkers working around the clock to explain the psychology behind a nation of rank-rented tenants eagerly transforming into a nation of rapacious landlords in a few generations.
