Jack Hogan looked certain to hit the ground before the winning post but managed to hold onto to his horse’s neck and stay aboard for a dramatic win at Huntingdon

Jockey Jack Hogan was hailed for producing the ‘ride of the jumps season’ - even though it’s only a few days old.

But as the pair were joined by Stumps Or Slips approaching the final fence, Hogan’s saddle started to slip. Yet somehow he clung onto the horse’s neck, then regained his balance to push Stormin Crossgales to a neck victory. “He’s still got every chance but the rider is in danger of being unseated. Stormin Crossgales has somehow managed to win it.”Hogan, who has riding his 53rd success on the Tom George-trained chaser, told Racing TV: “The whole race worked out perfect. I was settled. I was jumping great. I winged down the last and I don’t know whether he jinks or something, but the saddle went completely sideways and I couldn’t get my right leg out.
