Stewards deem Kennedy to have been overly aggressive on Firefox in the Champion Novice Hurdle on Tuesday

Title chasing jockey Jack Kennedy has been hit with an eight-day ban after being judged by the stewards at Punchestown to have been overly aggressive in a ride there on Tuesday.

It comes just weeks after the Kerryman was suspended for also being judged to have used his whip more than the regulated amount of times on the same horse at the AIntree Festival when also finishing runner-up to Mystical Power. Last month Kennedy picked up a six-day whip ban after his ride on Firefox in the TrustATrader Top Novices' Hurdle at Aintree. That suspension is set to run from May 4th to 10th.

Firefox is trained by Gordon Elliott and owned by Bective Stud and has now finished second at Punchestown and Aintree and third at Cheltenham in March.
