Johnson & Johnson has told the European Union it is facing supply issues that may complicate plans to deliver 55 million doses of its Covid-19 vaccine to the bloc in the second quarter of the year, an EU official told Reuters

Johnson & Johnson has told the European Union it is facing supply issues that may complicate plans to deliver 55 million doses of its Covid-19 vaccine to the bloc in the second quarter of the year, an EU official told Reuters.

The official added that the company had said it was not impossible to meet the goal, but that it showed caution. J&J began rolling out its vaccine in the United States this month, with a target of delivering 100 million doses by the end of May, but has nearly halved its delivery forecasts for March to 20 million doses as it ramps up new manufacturing facilities.

That includes about 10 million to Germany and 7.3 million to Italy. Supplies are expected to double in the third quarter, the two schedules show. Ireland also expects J&J to begin supplies a bit later in April than initially planned, with the largest deliveries at the end of the second quarter, the head of the Health Service Executive said today, confirming earlier estimates for supplies through June.

Actual deliveries have often diverged from contractual obligations as vaccine makers have struggled to ship millions of shots at breakneck pace amid the pandemic.

If our government had done thier jobs, placed Ireland first and placed orders on time, we could be ina good situation now like Northern Ireland is. Young people will leave Ireland in droves because there is nothing for them here. No jobs, no socialising, no joy, no hope.

Here we go

Beyond a joke at this stage. The government need to get off their high horse and start sourcing Sputnik. I hope to god they are held accountable for their fuck up once we are over covid

It’s clear they are prioritising countries who have paid in excess for the vaccines. EU bargained for cheaper rates instead of faster delivery. This is what they have reaped.

They should all sell their patents to the WHO at this stage - so many countries have paid for the service and it's not being fulfilled, shame on the pharmaceutical companies (who plans a supply chain 2 weeks before it's due to ship) pfizer moderna_tx JNJNews AstraZeneca

surely they will response to this as they did with oxford vaccine and condemn US as they did the U.K.

Johnson & Jonhson are a criminal organisation who spent 25 denying asbestos was in their body powder product. How on earth can anyone put any trust in such a criminal corporation?

MichealMartinTD DonnellyStephen LeoVaradkar And so it starts with J&J now. Delay delay delay. Lockdown lockdown lockdown. I can't live like this any longer. I honestly can't do it. I can't even go for a hike on my own to clear my head.

Take a large bag of salt with this spin...?!?!🙄

Every vaccine manufacturer when it comes to problems at this stage

It's worthless crap. '60% effective' and doesn't even stop you getting or spreading covid (like the others) This is about the covid passport, and limiting your freedoms

Astra Zeneca is selling theirs at cost.

Wouldn't it be nice if these pharmaceutical companies that are due to make an unprecedented amount of money from this to give all profits in helping with the recovery of the world.....who am I kidding, phamra is about profit only
