A PhD student from Lucan, Co Dublin, has taken the top prize alongside his Imperial College London teammates in the BBC's long-running quiz show, University Challenge

It may be one of TV's toughest challenges, and sharing the spoils is a PhD student from Lucan, Co Dublin.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, he is now working from his home in Lucan, where he is also celebrating his big win. Conor and his teammates, Richard Brooks, Brandon Blackwell and Caleb Rich, were selected to compete for Imperial College last year. "You have to be somebody who enjoys accidentally spending a couple of hours on Wikipedia. A lot of the questions I answered in the show were subjects I'd read about or remembered from other quizzes.

Wow...congrats! NOW can he use those brains to cure covid19? Or if that's not possible would it be too much to ask that he uses his mighty brain to cure stupidity?

Congrats a great achievement. My main gripe is that result was on RTÉ before I got to watch the recording (& maybe get to answe 3 questions if it’s a good nigh)
