Irish Mirror readers have set out their ‘biggest concerns’ as Ireland gears up for three elections due to take place in less than a week.
Concerns surrounding immigration, the cost of living, and housing all came out on top, while other issues like healthcare, homelessness and environmental issues were still major concerns for many voters. The cost of living crisis came in at third, with 14 per cent of respondents agreeing that the ongoing pinch on households felt from energy costs, grocery bills, childcare expenses and general living costs have gone on too long.
Homelessness came in as the sixth most important issue among those heading to vote in the polls, with just under three per cent of participants agreeing it was their top concern. Ireland has record high numbers of people recorded as homeless, with 9,803 adults and 4,206 children currently experiencing homelessness.
