We asked readers what they think Simon Harris' priorities should be as Taoiseach if there should be an early general election and more

Irish Mirror readers have delivered their verdict on our new Taoiseach, Simon Harris, revealing their thoughts on hot-button issues like when a general election should be held and what his priorities should be.

The Greystones native was the only person to put his name forward to replace Leo Varadkar as leader of the party after his shock announcement he was stepping down as Taoiseach. Ahead of Mr Harris becoming the new Taoiseach, and amid calls from the opposition for a general election to be held, we asked Irish Mirror readers a series of questions about his new role as Fine Gael leader and what his priorities are now that he is set to take over from Varadkar.

Asked what should Simon Harris's priority be as Taoiseach? The writing was on the wall, with a whopping 70 per cent voting for the hot topic of housing. Just one per cent of respondents thought education should be a priority, while 25 per cent think the focus should be on law and order. The remaining four per cent said he should look to helping businesses.
