Buyers paid a median price of €300,000 for a property in the 12 months to November. The Dublin region had the highest median price and, within the capital, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown had the highest median price of €620,000. The highest median prices outside of Dublin were in Wicklow and Kildare , while the lowest was €150,000 in Longford.
The price of new dwellings have risen by 93.3 per cent from their trough in the middle of 2013 while the price of existing homes are now 131.9 per cent higher than at their trough in 2012. “Logic suggests that prices increase when demand exceeds supply and fall when supply exceeds demand – but this does not hold true in this particular instance,” he said.
