Irish Design Spotlight: Tory Long

A jewellery designer based in Belfast, Tory Long launched her jewellery brand back in 2013. However, it wasn’t until she was made redundant from her merchandising job last year that she decided to pursue it full-time. In her words, “It’s certainly not the easy option with long days, no steady income and a lot of uncertainty but life is too short not to take a risk and do the things you love.”My name is Tory Long and I am a jewellery designer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The brand originally began as a side hustle alongside my career in buying and merchandising, however, 2023 was a life-changing year, from celebrating a 40th birthday to redundancy from my job in merchandising as yet another global retailer fell into administration. After the shock and panic passed, I realised that this was the perfect time for my side-line jewellery business to become my full-time focus and to finally live the dream.
