Game on July 20th will now take place at Accor Stadium, which hosted the 2000 Olympics

The Republic of Ireland will play hosts Australia at the 83,500 capacity Accor Stadium in the opening game of the Women's World Cup on July 20th.

The increase will barely satisfy demand. The FAI are set to receive an allocation of four per cent for the 83,500 capacity, but Fifa also confirmed that Irish people have independently purchased thousands of tickets to attend the former Olympic arena, where Sonia O’Sullivan won a silver medal in 2000.

Ireland is ranked ninth in the number of tickets sold among the 32 competing nations. Another tranche of single game passes goes on sale on February 24th, viawith phase two going live on March 3rd before the last official window on April 11th. Vera Pauw’s squad begin their competitive preparations for the tournament against China at Estadio Nuevo Mirador on February 22nd following a warm-weather camp in Marbella, Spain.
