In response, Sean Williams anchored the chase with 34 as Zimbabwe ultimately coasted home despite two wickets for Harry Tector on his return to bowling. He too perished, though, when Brad Evans pushed his length up, getting one to swing and take the outside edge. Burl and Masakadza added further wickets before Ngarava and Chatara returned to clean up the tail, Ireland failing to bat their allotted overs despite Delany’s attempted fight back with a pair of boundaries over the offside. As much as Ireland’s total was disappointing, boundaries weren’t a significant issue; 13 times the side in green found the fence. A failure to score off 48 per cent of deliveries faced stands out as the major problem.
