Ireland's Bambie Thug has finished in sixth place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest following a night of controversy in Malmo, Sweden, where Switzerland prevailed for the first time since Celine Dion won the competition in 1988.
Rumours had swirled prior to the final and it was unclear whether the Macroom performer would take to the stage in Malmo as a result of the controversy. The Dutch entrant was also disqualified over an incident backstage, and two jury representatives withdrew from the competition over Israel's participation in the event. In the end, Swiss non-binary singer Nemo won the competition with their song, 'The Code', with the contest coming down to the wire with Croatia.
