As the award-winning journalist approaches retirement age edging closer to her leave from RTÉ, she is looking forward to beginning a new chapter and embracing life

Áine Lawlor is looking forward to 'another chapter' ahead of retiring from RTÉ when she turns 65 in two years time.

Her career with the national broadcaster began in September 1984 when she joined as a trainee journalist. Still passionate about her job, she confessed that she just can't miss the excitement of election season.Being mindful, she counts her daily blessings, "It's so easy to get cranky as you get older, so I must often remind myself to enjoy life and realise how gorgeous it can be. The truth is that very often it's the small things that bring the most joy."
