In an overview of nursing home care, the regulator says only 12 nursing homes did not report a confirmed or suspected case of Covid-19 between March 2020 and December 2021. However, inspections also identified areas for improvement such as fire safety, governance and management and infection control.It says the single greatest issue for residents was a sense of isolation from families, friends and their wider community.
Many residents expressed feeling frustrated and lonely when visiting restrictions did not allow their families and friends to come and see them.

The heartlessness and cruelty of it all. Of course it will be all hushed up - like the mother and baby homes, best brush it all under the carpet. When my time comes, I would sooner jump off a cliff than end up in a nursing home.
But somehow everyone knew this and talked about this except the media. I had a store on Dawson street customers openly discussed this amongst other points of contention, it’s all common knowledge from real life experience yet the media never mentioned it. Why?

HSE expected a big surge in patients with COVID in 2020.....They moved a lot of old people from hospital to care homes without testing them...To make room for the surge....They had no ability to test...In the end the hospital surge did not happen ..
