Irish Farmers Association appeal for evidence of 'price fixing' in beef sector after 'countless complaints' brushed off by authorities

The Irish Farmers Association is hoping to gather evidence of alleged price fixing in the beef sector after "countless complaints" ignored by authorities.

They said in an appeal: "The CCPC recently advised the IFA that it would not investigate alleged anti-competitive practices in the beef sector, despite receiving countless complaints. They said: "The CCPC has considerable investigation powers under relevant legislation. However, they have refused to use these powers to try and obtain any evidence of price fixing by beef or other processors or retailers.
