On day one I fail. Despite getting up at 6.30am, lunches packed and the clothes out the night before, we can't get out the door by 8.15am.I turn into 'shouty mammy' again, after two weeks of being like Mary Poppins. My eldest says, 'You sound like a monster mammy', as I comb the knots out of her hair, in a rage like a possessed witch.
The girls are pretending to be their favourite Disney characters as I spend time on the hair, rather than lashing the brush through the mountain of knots. It sounds silly but it's scientifically proven by the world's leading brain expert Dr Daniel Amen to work. The other thing we're adding in, is a morning ritual of saying, "Today is going to be a great day" - another Dr Amen nugget that helps you stay positive. Suddenly the mood lifts in the house and we are all skipping out the door.
