The Irish government has spent over €200 million on PPE from countries such as China.

Speaking today, Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe said that some of it was “different to that which our healthcare professionals are used to”. And thirdly for some elements that just not appropriate for use in our healthcare system, and we’re going back to the suppliers and feeding this back to them and making sure that any future supplies we get from this or other sources comply with what our healthcare workers need and what will protect them, protect their patients and reduce dissemination of the virus.

“It is being tested and assessed by the Health Service Executive . Good use will be found for it. We will continue to look for additional equipment,” he said following reports that some healthcare workers aren’t satisfied with all of the gowns and masks they were provided with.

They know the truth and cannot deny the fact, instead now they are trying to muddy water by stating this is insulting and insinuating.

The only thing worth buying from China is a Huawei phone

The first thing on my list soon, will be to have a long pee outside the gate of Chinese embassy as a gesture of thanks.

The Chinese have us over a barrel.....

Of course it isnt , they are keeping the good stuff for themselves, I've seen evidence of false certifications and dubious accreditation on products on the BSIF linkedIn page which some importers have shared. This is China's plan all along and the irish gov fell into the trap!

This mess has exposed the quality of our so called leaders and exposed how greed has left western society seriously vulnerable to the likes of China for basic supplies of medical equipment and the like.....

Head man was eircom union man back in the day... Quite the renegade.

Did they order it off wish. Com?

Checking it as it lands ? Mabye good idea to check it before it taes off.

I Think leo needs to make an other phone call..

So who ordered them and why were they not thoroughly checked before placing said order!? It's like the people who ordered the damn printer were tasked with this job too 😒😒😒 absolute shambles!!!

Anyone who ever bought a shirt in downtown China know the sleeves are always too short.

Everyone who ever made a business with China know you need to check stuff before dispatch. So...HSE just need to hire someone with experience, not family connection. Send your employee to check it next time!!!

It’s made in China what ya expect fs

Not Good Enough.. This is our frontline workers lives you are messing with. You went for the cheap lot didn't check it out because you don't care about the real workers or their lives. If you could you would have stopped it leaking onto social media SimonHarrisTD LeoVaradkar .

Obviously there quiet a bit smaller than us twat a kid would understand that.....

Same prob with faulty tests bought here in Spain last week. Had to be sent back. Shameful that this is happening.

irishenergyblog just like that..nothing to worry about, business as usual...not even one fired/held accountable for €200 million waste, entire HSE should be scrapped all those experts should be banned from public sector work, can we stop tolerating incompetency?

You couldn't make this shit up

LeoVaradkar paulreiddublin Time for Leo to don his scrubs again and go back to medicine- suggestion here let Leo be the first one to try out all the PPC from China he has ordered- in any of the ICU's of his choice in Dublin and give HSE staff detailed feedback

More incompetence

Some! Can anyone count or hazard a guess?

Piss up and brewery come to mind. These are the people leading this country !

Have chinese ppe sellers got no shame? Taking advantage of a difficult situation.

Yikes

Absolute clown 🤡 show paulreiddublin SimonHarrisTD

If the HSE are admitting it is 'not appropriate' then it must be for the bin!!!

I think everyone knew there was a high risk of that. Pity for our medics. Hopefully China will honour the discrepancy....I will not be holding my breadth on it though. Public should be told how much is lost, physically and financially.

Just boxes of love crotchless undies

exactly what proportion of the Personal Protective Equipment was not suitable for Irish users? & since you put a money value in your headline could you put a money value on it and tell us if they can be deducted/discounted from the Invoice? Btw who's name is on the (news)piece?

Time to throw it in the room with the printer in Leinster House.

Must have got it off wish

Who did they buy them off WISH?

Great news🤙🏻

how much is some? How much did it cost? and do we get a refund?
