'People are finding new ways to connect and I think that’s just the human spirit, isn’t it?'

Coffee mornings in the office and after-work pints are a distant memory, and live stream pub quizzes have become our new favourite way to socialise.

Even though the Covid-19 crisis is keeping us apart, it's brought new ways of keeping us together, both in our personal lives and in the workplace., All In, backed by AIB, Aisling Teillard, CEO of Tandem HR Solutions, spoke of the moments from everyday life that we're missing, how businesses are adapting and how technology is filling the newfound gap in our social lives.

"I think what I am seeing a lot of is a real forthcoming of humanity in all of this. What’s interesting is how human we’ve all become over technology like Zoom and Skype," she said. "While people are missing the canteen moments and the coffee chats, what I’ve started to see is an awful lot of rise in these practices happening but just happening through technology.""So people are finding new ways to connect and I think that’s just the human spirit, isn’t it? Regardless of how challenging everything is, that people find the humanity in it and I find work practices softening up a lot.

"We’re all showing our vulnerability together, you’re looking into people’s homes, you’re seeing their kids burst into the room, you’re seeing the cat walk over the laptop. And it all suddenly feels very human and informal and we’ve cut through an awful lot of, I suppose of our former business practices which would’ve been a lot more formal in nature in the past."
