Bayern Munich may have inadvertently hindered Manchester United's chances of signing Jadon Sancho this month.
Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness is among those to speak out on the transfer, but did so in order to take a swipe at Dortmund. Watzke said: "Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and I have been trying for years to ensure that the largest German clubs maintain a respectful relationship with one another. I think it's a shame that people try to do this at regular intervals to infiltrate."
He added: "Last summer, we adjusted the salary in line with Jadon's performance. In this context, we have extended the contract until 2023." The comment is almost in direct response to Hoeness criticising Dortmund always selling their best players, and suggests BVB are looking to do things differently from now on.
"If he wants to show that with us for another year or more, I will of course be very happy. It is extremely important that you do not always have a high turnover in the regular eleven.
